I thought I was seeing a doctored photo of the school. This is insane.

Corporate Optometry has no place in academia.

Corporate entities naming Professional schools is a travesty. There is too much conflict of interest here for these two to join.

Frankly, it is quite embarrassing that this would ever happen to a professional school. This is not only a huge conflict of interest, but it blatantly disregards the sentiments of current and former faculty/students/alumni. Completely disrespects Doctors of Optometry!

Protect medical optometry. Protect private practice optometry.

I fully and completely disagree with the rebranding of a well-respected optometry institution. Keep academic and corporate ownership/branding completely separate. We as doctors have to be vigilant against accepting bribes, donations or free gifts in exchange for referrals, or services from other practicioners, companies or corporations. I do not see how rebranding and renaming one of our educational facilities and optometry programs doesn't violate the principle of "not influencing medical decision-making" and ultimately damage the independence of our profession.

In order to gain respect we must first respect ourselves. This is blatant disrespect to our profession. Doctors work to serve the health and wellness of the public. An institution of learning for growing medical professionals is not a corporate entity and should not be labeled as such. It is a disservice to the trust we are given by the public and tarnishes the respectability and reputation of all medical professionals.
