This is the latest in a long line of corporate sellouts we've seen in the profession of optometry. Between the vertically integrated monopoly of Luxottica/Essilor or the 'group ophthalmology' buyouts of family practices, new grads and established OD's alike need to wake up and start supporting our PACs to preserve what integrity we have. Shame on you Loshin... Shame

The “leadership” of this school should resign immediately. If this happens, prepare to see a domino effect with all private schools being named after corporate donors. We can not let this happen!

It is obscene and offends general decency to permit a retail corporation to have influence over a medical academic institution.

Kickbacks to those involved? Needs to be investigated, but that’ll never happen. So sad to see this happening.

Educational institutions should not have an affiliation to this degree with ANY corporation. This is unethical and undermines the value of an unbiased education system.

This is absolutely disgusting! Your extremely short-sighted quick money idea will completely backfire (and already is). I am now ashamed to be a graduate of this school and will definitely be steering any future students away. You have destroyed decades of hard fought reputation. Just as Nova is rising in the ranks of schools, it gets totally tossed away for a relatively small amount of money in the grand scheme of things. I hope Nova loses its acredation and the Board sanctions them, because this is a travesty of a decision. Say goodbye to my and other's alumni donations. I will no longer attend any CE affiliated with this school. You will most surely be losing more than $5 million because of this idiotic decision. Nova is willing to harm the integrity of the entire profession for some quick cash. For that, you should be ashamed.

There are other areas that NSU can improve. The name is fine as is.

I’ve been a practicing optometrist for 18 years. My son is in the process of applying to optometry school and NOVA was one of his top choices. If this name change goes through, needless to say he will not be applying here.
Shocked.
Shameful!
