The NOAA Teacher at Sea Program has given a wide range of teachers, and their students, insight and into what scientists DO. These experiences have been taken back into costal and plains classrooms; life and physical science classes; math concepts are being taught with real data. Please keep this tried and true STEM professional development opportunity funded!

For seven years I sailed on the NOAA Ship Ka'imimoana with several different teachers-at-sea and believe it to be an excellent program and will worth the time and money spent on it.

This is an extremely valuable program for both NOAA and in service teachers who are teaching the next generation of NOAA scientists and leaders. To cut this program is to move backwards in joint teacher-NOAA progress.

The NOAA Teacher at Sea program is an amazing and unique gift for teachers and their students. It has been almost five years since I sailed on NOAA Ship Rainier. Those three weeks and the professional relationships I have made with scientists and teachers from around the country continue to influence me and my students in countless ways. The program is STEM education at its finest. It runs like clockwork. Please do not try to fix what isn't broken.

My brief tenure as a Teacher at Sea has had a lasting impact on the material and delivery of the courses I teach. It has been the only opportunity that I’ve ever had to spend time on the Atlantic and out at sea. The experience has not only added credibility to my instruction but has infused my teaching with a depth of knowledge (and passion) regarding marine science and technology simply cannot be derived from a textbook.
This is a one of a kind, awesome program.
