Totally unacceptable that physical scratch paper will no longer be available for in-person testing. I fail to see any rational reason for this

Unless they plan on issuing a stylus and touch pad this is yet another Unnecessary hinderance to the process.

Can NCARB not come up with a visual to allow scratch paper? Really? Great on getting up to speed with proctored exams but scratch paper now? Thanks

Can you at the least make it possible to use scratch paper in the meantime at the actual testing center, since nothing else has changed in person.

Architects are trained to figure things out visually. I can't imagine solving a structural equation or space planning without drawing it out.

You suck NCARB. You are a useless organization completely disconnected from the profession

Please do not take away the use of scratch paper for exams taken in a testing center. Speaking as a person with learning disabilities, the ability to write down notes, draw diagrams, and do calculations is vital to the passing of any exam. We rely on the memory tricks and other tools we must employ to be able to perform on timed exams. Please do not stigmatize us even further by taking away an essential tool.

Removing scratch paper is missing the point. Some people needs to write things down to keep track of their thoughts. What architect doesn’t use paper when they practice in real life?

This is ridiculous. All the paper is discarded after the exam and. And cannot be used to remove information from the test site. If the paper is taken away then all equations on the test should also be eliminated.

Please bring back scratch paper that can be used during the exam to work out solutions.
Also in past the scratch paper has been helpful to turn into prometric when there has been an issue with the NCARB software when taking the exam.

With all the changes we have to adapt to in testing because of covid, do not make it impossible for us to focus and pass the tests. The use of scratch paper as a part of thinking and testing that is a lifelong habit to break. You need to have better solutions. This won't do.

Actual scratch paper is an essential part of taking the ARE’s! People use this as a tool to sketch things out, math, etc. The testing center keeps it so I don’t understand why it is a security risk

Please stop making this difficult. We rather spend time on questions than on paint tools. We are investing so much to become good architects, making this difficult for your members is helping no one here.
