The board has formally agreed to hold the special meeting we requested to address the club finances. It is heartening to see that persistent inquiry leads to the transparency our organization requires. Please remain observant as we move forward into these discussions to ensure our collective interests are fully protected.

Dear Members of the Board,

As members in good standing, we are requesting the board call a special member’s meeting to discuss the finances of the club. Our concerns include the transfer of land fund money without the permission of the members, the amount of money spent on new construction, failure to hire an exchange company per the motion approved by the members in November and failure to accept the contract for the sale of land.

We are also concerned with the handling of staff. It has come to our attention that two staff members were forced out of their positions because you needed to save money. This has created multiple potential issues for the club including conflicts of interest, lack of oversight and the potential for liability exposure.

Unfortunately, the by-laws do not address recourse for the members if they feel there is a failure of the board to protect the club. Without specific details, we feel it would be irresponsible for us to file a formal complaint against all members of the board, hence this request. We are also requesting the meeting be held at 7:00 on a Tuesday. This is a time and day of the week members are used to meeting. Finally, we are requesting the meeting information be posted on the home page of the website, at both ranges visible to the members, on the MSA Facebook page, and through an email sent to all contacts.

In conclusion, we believe these failures have created a potentially untenable financial position for the entire club. The dissension on the board is some of the worst most of us have ever seen and creating a huge rift between the two ranges. After addressing the above issues, we want to discuss the possibility of selling the new shotgun range, using an independent attorney and accountant to protect the interest of the club, not specific individuals or agendas.

Members please sign using your name and member number.

I agree. Personally, I'd like to see a *lot* more involvement from the membership and on-line voting is a great way. The NRA does it... USPSA does it... Lots of organizations larger than us do it. I'd like to see this addressed in the next bylaw changes.

Mr. Ellison, Remember in June at the Rifle and Pistol Range when you told me that the donations and financial support from another board member gave him a bigger voice than others? You’re wrong. Everyone of the people signing this petition has the same right to be heard. The “S” in MSA stands for “Shooters” and not for any one individual. “Shooters” means all of our members and their interests are why we have an Association to begin with. It’s time you start listening to them.

Unanswered questions persist about the "new shotgun range" project, cost overruns, paying back the Land Fund, de-funding positions and more. A general membership meeting is needed.

No sir... They have not been. The financials are not hidden and do no reflect any wrongdoings. Please withhold your accusations until you have reviewed the data, minutes and have discussed with other members; Especially those at the shotgun range. Please try and keep the conversations civil & attempt to be objective. I believe you will see the whole picture. Thank you.

This needs clarification and properly discussed so members have a chance to see how their dues are utilized and used for approved expenditures.

I've not seen anything going on 'underhanded'. In fact, it's been the exact opposite. By being a member, there's also nothing wrong with asking questions, but those questions should not be accusatory. That immediately puts everyone on the defensive & causes tension. If the meeting is held, & the things above are addressed as written, the meeting will not produce a positive response for any party involved. I ask that everyone take a breath & pause for a moment before jumping to conclusions or pointing the finger.

We all do! Thanks for signing. Hopefully this will help us do exactly that.
