Man's oldest tool is restricted like we're living in some communist country and no one has a problem with it?

Let's be real, it takes longer to open a balisong/butterfly knife than a spring ASSISTED folding knife, and of course an automatic opening knife. The knife is used for recreational and sport, or as the bali- community refers to it as flipping. It literally makes no sense to not be able to carry a 2+ inch Balisong out in public in CALIFORNIA, but legally be able to carry an unlimited sized blade, in a sheath. (or any other sheathed knife, which does not require an "opening" procedure and surely will be faster than manipulating a balisong) Other than that, balisong enthusiasts aren't stupid enough to pay $200+ for a knife, and want to hurt someone, as with any other knife enthusiasts. I urge for the legalization of open carry for butterfly/balisongs, especially for California.

Just because a lawmaker was scared by an 80's movie villain doesn't mean that these knives are anymore dangerous than other knives.

In the balisong community balisong knives aren't thought of as a weapon, they're thought of as a piece of equipment in an extreme sport and art form. Thanks for your time.

balisong are just another knife. There no reason of it being illegal by the way you open it.

Assisted folders that are legal are faster to open than a balisong. My argument would be that you could hand a switchblade or an assisted folder to just about anyone, even those that have never handled a knife, and they can open it relatively easy with one hand without much instruction. Do the same with a balisong and they will struggle.

A senseless and outdated law that accomplishes nothing.

I support this 100%.

The whole law in general makes no sense. It take much longer to draw and open this butterfly knife that it does to only draw a fixed blade knife. It would make more sense to outlaw fixed blades than a butterfly knife.

This is an art form. The blade only adds to the elegance and the emotion. I have NEVER heard of a butterfly knife being used in a crime. These guys simply love the art of flipping and so do I.

It's absurd that a knife with the exact same dangers as a kitchen knife is illegal in places due to the intimidation factor alone.
