Speak out to the Napa DA in support of just punishment for felons who steal grapes

I am a grape grower / farmer We need protection from people who steal are crops under the cover of darkness. Farming is exausting. Losing what the del dotto family lost is tragic. Their should be stuff penalties for stealing grapes. It is no different than Robbing a bank. let's send a tough message and slap this guy with 10 years in prison. He will be out in 5 with good behavior.

With a 24 year career in the wine business I agree that Mr. Hill's crime to which he pled no contest deserves the full penalties of the major crime that it was. Felony with jail time. I am confident that there will be federal charges to follow.

My husband and I can not believe that someone who could steal grapes and takes away profit from a winery does not receive more punishment for his crime!!!

I don't believe that this should be looked at as trying to make an example out of Mr. Hill in order to deter others. This has to be looked at as enacting justice in a case that has major implications and losses to many directly effected and even further reaching implications to the protection of the highly valuable brand of Napa Valley. Mr. Hill acted with full intent to break the law and should be punished to the full extent of the law.

If he'd stolen an $ 800000 tractor or sports car what would his sentence be?

I think they should reimburse the businesses that have been affected by this-it's The right thing to do. How will these businesses recover?

A plea deal is not acceptable in preventing this action in the future.

Please consider the consequences of Mr Hills actions and the impact on our valleys growers and wineries! I'm of the belief that if the punishment is not severe it allows the dishonest to continue the crimes. .. Sincerely RJS

Jeff Hill has destroyed the trust built up in the valley for decades. He belongs in jail.

This is about right and wrong, following the laws and being a good citizen. Too many times it becomes a game between lawyers finagling and twisting the interpretation of the law to their benefit. A major crime has been committed and the innocent party has been hurt. How about restitution for them in the form of justice.

This was a major crime and inflicted damage on the victim's brand and his loss of income. He committed a felony and deserves a felony conviction.

Clearly a felony. This is not petty theft of bubble gum in the candy store. It should be prosecuted as a felony and he should be tried as such.

How is a $800,000 theft considered a misdemeanor? Please help fix this.
