Speak out to the Napa DA in support of just punishment for felons who steal grapes

This crime committed by Mr. Hill should not be plea bargained to a lessor charge just to get the case off the books. The value of the grapes is what could be produced that value is well over the threshold for a felony theft charge. This criminal needs to be convicted of a felony for what he has admitted.

This type of "plea agreement" law has become far too commonplace in today's "everybody gets a second chance, and nobody is accountable for their actions" world. He did the crime; he needs to do the time

This thief MUST be punished for the crime committed. He was capitalizing on another person's hard work. Why should he get a reduced sentence, where's the justice to that?

As a grape grower I can see how easy it would be for someone in his position to steal from my harvest. Appropriate punishment is the only way to establish effective deterrence in this kind of case.

Given the reports of many other criminal acts by Mr. Hill, this admitted theft was not a one time mistake but only one instance of many in an extensive pattern of criminal behavior. Punishing a theft as large as this one as a felony seems appropriate.

This is not the way of justice. If anything, forgive for what was recovered, and re-compensate for what was stolen and never returned! This is a ridiculous, and skewed system of justice!

Mr. Hill cannot be allowed to get away with this crime.

Needs to be addressed and punishment needs to meet the crime

As a retired law enforcement officer I strongly request that no reduction be granted in this case. This winemaker is a disgrace to the industry and he is a thief by his own admission. The felony conviction should stand.

This is an egregious act and should be treated as such.

I believe this crime should be kept as a felony charge. We really enjoy this wine and the owner's and wine maker have put there entire lives into production. Reducing the sentence itself would be a crime.

I believe if someone steals, more than once this value of product they deserve just punishment.

Theft of $800,000 is a felony and should be treated as a felony.

Please do not allow this criminal to go free without receiving the maximum possible sentence.

I strongly urge the court to impose stiff felony penalties on criminals convicted of stealing valuable grapes from Napa vineyards.

A slap on the wrist sends the wrong message. I'm wondering if he had stolen something other than grapes if this would even be an option? Protect Napa Valley...and do your job!

This is a clear case of theft and well above the felony limit. Please uphold the law and send a clear message to Mr Hill and others that this will not be tolerated!

This is not fair to a family business.

This is not right and he should have known better. Give him the maximum the law allows.
