Speak out to the Napa DA in support of just punishment for felons who steal grapes

This is atrocious if someone stole 800k of cash they would go to prison

I oppose pleading this down to a misdemeanor. This was deliberate with willful intent. It was a significant amount and deserves incarceration as a deterrent to others.

This should be a felony and he should get much more than 1 year. A person committing grand theft auto, stealing a $1,000 car can get a longer sentence. Since this occurred in California, then as a felony it would count as a "first strike" against the "three strike" rule.

I very much oppose the reduction of this crime to a misdemeanor. The defendant clearly knew the approximate value of the grapes based on his position at the winery. This was not a victimless crime. Not only was Del Dotto impacted, but also their customers who may have to pay higher prices for the wine to make up for the loss. People should be accountable for their actions!!

I am shocked that the county attorney would be so short sighted. Mr. Hill should be prosecuted to the full extent and not be permitted to plea down the charges. It sets a very dangerous precedent.

Do not just slap his hand. Mr. Hill would not like people stealing from him. Jail him and let everyone know how serious this act is for everyone.

I agree that an appropriately strong sentence should be applied. Stealing the product of a farmer's work is bad enough, but to steal this significant quantity of product with such a large market value is just wrong. Napa Valley land and the associated grapes that are grown are world class and should be treated with the respect they have earned.

Theft is THEFT. Do not reward this thief and relieve him of any burden of punishment because he was willing to admit to another charge. This is unacceptable. His OWN EMPLOYEES reported his actions!

Employers need help and support when employees take advantage of an opportunity to steal from them. Please help.

The penalty should fit the crime. There should be no reduction of the felony plea agreement.
