This is not a misdemeanor! Jail time is needed. It was like stealing money.

He should be punished for his crime. If he were to steal $800,000.00 from a bank account, he would not receive a misdemeanor. He didn't get caught stealing a bunch of grapes during his break because he was hungry.... he stole thousands of grapes to make a profit at someone else's loss.
You do the crime.... you do the time. (Risk Vs. reward).
NO to the plea deal!!!!

The theft of grapes for one's own wine production for use for sale to the public is tantamount to wine fraud or selling counterfeit wine. It is insidious and should be strongly discouraged - especially under the circumstances of this case.

Felony grand theft of raw material which would result in$800K worth of wine is like stealing $800K cash from the company. Even if it may be a first offense (?), a severe penalty is in order. Jail time and/or reparations to Del Dotto is in order.

It is my belief that if we let employees succeed in stealing from employers we set a precedent for dishonesty. We teach children that stealing is a crime and a sin. This person is an adult and knows better. Please see that this individual is given the maximum sentence so that other employers aren't subjected to this injustice.

Letting a felon go with a proverbial slap on the wrist is NOT American justice. He is a thief and cost a California business precious revenue, and me good, honest wine! He can not get away with this with a misdemeanor when honest people work long and hard hours doing it honestly an legally. Any other judgement is not justice.

It is very clear to me, that If Mr. Hill gets off on a lesser charge, then "CRIME REALLY DOES PAY"
At what point do we as a civil society, give justice back to the people. He needs to repay his wrong doing to those he harmed.

This country is founded on the basis of 'rule of law'. Grand theft is a felony and should not be plea bargained down to a misdemeanor offense. Doing so is an affront to the business people and entrepreneurs like Dave Del Dotto that have invested their time and fortunes pursuing their passion of wine making. Don't let the thieves and cheaters prevail.

Clearly, he thought he could get away with it since he went back and stole grapes a 2nd time. I'm sure Mr.Hill knows right from wrong.

That's ridiculous to write off a $800,000 theft and pretend the other is only misdemeanor level since you got your grapes back. He would have kept them too if he hadn't been caught (and probably would have continued).

This should definitely not be a misdemeanor. The hard work of allthe De Dotto employees involved will just be undermined with such a resolution.

A theft that results in such a huge loss of business and revenue should certainly result in a felony conviction with jail time. A clearly calculated theft such as this one is reprehensible in the manner by which he grossly abused the trust and access of his employment. A lesser conviction is a slap on the wrist and encourages this kind of behavior with such a huge financial gain to be sought.

Please do not convict as a misdemeanor. Mr. Hill did what he did knowingly. A less crime will not threaten anybody in the future.

Dave Del Dotto is one of the very best winemakers and has created true genius in all that us Del Dotto. He is kind, generous and has worked very hard at creating something truly, exceptionally and unique. It deeply saddens me to hear that such a horrific atrocious act could be done at his expense and inconvenience. Please!!!! Do not let this atrocity get by without the due, lawful punishment it deserves. Please, in the name of justice do not allow this Horrific Crime to get reduced to a misdemeanor. Nothing can replace all that was truly lost. But please find this man guilty of the felony of which he is SO deserving of!!!!
