Speak out to the Napa DA in support of just punishment for felons who steal grapes

I fully agree that his felony conviction should remain....It is hard enough to run a business in todays world with all of the regulations, taxes etc. that business owners are faced with. Then to put in to the picture "a thief". I used to be proud of the grate state of California but now because of our laws and society it is very difficult to make a living. I truly feel that we are working to support people who don't want to work. Our freedom and rights as citizens have been taken away. Criminals have more rights and are "given" more now in todays society without having to earn or work hard for what they have. My question to all is, what happened to working hard for an honest days pay? They should make him pay every last penny back and slam the prison door shut behind him. I doesn't matter weather its 1 grape or truck loads, he took the grapes period....

Laws seem to protect criminals. Stealing something worth $800,000 should mean jail time.

I agree that the law should be a strong deterrent against crime so that potential criminals know that they will be convicted of a felony and sent to jail for stealing Napa Valley grapes.

Theft is theft, and theft of over $1000 is felony grand theft. Let the punishment fit the crime

There is serious money involved here, not like stealing a pizza. In the old West, if you stole a man's horse (his means of making a living) you were really in trouble.

This guy is a criminal, I cant believe the NAPA DA are such light weights. Really America this crap needs to stop and put this guy behind bars. Make him pay restitution of the monies lost. Get a backbone Napa DA. You are truly sinful

This is absurd. He did not steal a candy bar from a store as a small child. This is a major theft and he should be punished accordingly.

I personally do not understand the current situations where our legal system is allowing people charged with Felonies to plead off to Misdemeanors. This is becoming prevalent in society and allowing those committing criminal acts to skate past prosecution. In this case the named knew what he was doing,stealing something that was not his, and expertly knew the cost or value of the stolen items, close to $800,000 that should be a felony plain and simple with a sum close to one million dollars, not to mention the damage to the trademark of not being able to supply the goods. God help this country and state if we continue down this path and allow criminals to beg off the just charges and walk away from criminal acts like this.

Please do not grant Mr. Hill a plea bargain. I feel he needs to be punished to the largest extent of the law and should repay all stolen money

Mr. Hill committed several felonies by taking property that wasn't his. He needs to be convicted of these crimes and sentenced for said crimes. By allowing him to plead to a misdermeanor charge would be a grave injustice and let other criminals know that is easy to commit crimes in Napa. Theft like his causes wineries to suffer great losses and in turn affects pricing for the general wine buying community. I strongly urge you to punish Mr. Hill to the greatest extent of the law and send a strong signal to others who might consider similar criminal activity in the future.
