A lack of french immersion is forcing a disadvantage on the students.

All students should have equal opportunities within the education system in Ontario and in Canada.

Rural children deserve the same opportunities as all other children in Canada, including my son. I also grew up in a small town and did not have access to French Immersion. I greatly wish that I were bilingual, it is a valuable skill in Canada and around the world.

Lots of research shows that French Immersion is very beneficial for students and I would love to register my kids in french immersion within my county. Right now they are attending a school in Grey-Bruce county because french immersion is not an option in Huron county.

As a parent with a child heading to the Canadian Armed Forces based in Montreal this program would have been very beneficial.

this would be amazing for Huron county. Broaden our horizon and with French being Canada's 2nd language it is so very important for all kids to have an opportunity to develop proper speaking skills in both languages.

My daughter took French Immersion in Lambton County. When we moved to South Huron, it was not available. In High school, she changed to a Catholic school in Clinton, to continue on. My grandchildren have not had this opportunity. I want it to be here. I speak no French.

I have been incontact with almost every authority within the Avon Maitland school board. This is a tough go. They do not accept change on the transportation issue. I will not back down. I need to take this case to the board of trustees next. Its the only way to change this problem now. Together we can make this positive change. If Stratford has the only French Immersion schools then I feel it is the boards responsibility to get the kids there. It is all the same school board. Instead they turn a shoulder on these kids moving into the area then having to give up 4-5 years of French Immersion. Its sad and dissapointing that they are just giving up on these kids who are mostly A students who want to succeed and obtain a second language. What message are we sending to them?

The board is trying to tell us that because kids are beyond the Stratford border that it is up to the parents to get the kids to these schools. Discrimination because of where you live. I am required to drive 2 hours each day to get my child her second language. What if parents don't drive, or work early and just cannot get them there. Im sure if we get together we will have the numbers to justify transport to Stratford.

As a newcomer to the area I am surprised that there is no French Immersion program offered.

I support the notion for greater access to French Immersion! I attended MDHS and although I elected to take French for 2 years, but it didn't connect for me. Also, it wasn't looked at favourably(uncool) as an elective for most kids either...

Lets open the doors to learning , not close them.

When I was a kid I started French in waterloo county my teacher was awesome moved to Huron county for grade 6 and my new teacher taught us what he did on the weekend and how to make road kill soup (no joke) My daughter started French in kindergarten in waterloo county we than moved back to Huron county and they didn't start French till grade 4 so she went for two years without French than her teachers again were not proper French teachers.... And the attitude of the students and parents towards having to take French was appalling... I would have loved to send my children to French immersion! Would love to help open this door for other parents....

I believe my children should be entitled to have an equal opportunity to pursue a French Immersion education in Huron County - regardless of our family's religious beliefs. My children should not be denied the opportunity because we chose to live in Huron County. I ask the Avon-Maitland School Board to create a French Immersion program at Goderich Public School.

why is it that we have to have our kids forced into a catholic belief system just so they can learn one of our NATIONAL languages? Don't take away our rights to freedom of choice, and freedom of religious beliefs yet they make us put our kids in a catholic school. It is our rights as canadians to be able to choose to learn our 2nd national language
