As a concerned parent, I'd like to support this petition. Tradition is what makes a great school great.

I am certain that the decision was well-intentioned. I hope that the school reconsiders its decision in light of this petition.

I don't have any kindergarteners, but I am very disappointed to hear this long-standing tradition is being cancelled. It allows children to enjoy the holiday, express their interests and be creative.

Please bring our tradition back. Getting rid of something the older children cherish with no warning and no rationale/communications to parents leaves parents shaking their heads.

Dear Mr Donnelly,
Making decisions in such a fashion is unacceptable
Please be mindful of the schools community and opinions of parents and teachers for situations such as this

Let the kids be kids! Halloween is THE holiday that children love and anticipate all year! It speaks to them and is part of our American culture. Please keep the KG parade and be generous by allowing kids in all grades to dress up and participate in the joy of Halloween and remember their days in elementary school with fondness. These are sweet traditions that create unforgettable memories and bring all of us happiness - young & old. Please think of the kids!

This is very disappointing especially only hearing about it a couple weeks before Halloween. If anything, keep the parade this year then consult with teachers and families for a decision for future years.

Sounds like fun, why cancel? My kids are in 6th and 4th grade, so they wouldn't participate, but they both were really bummed when I told them the news.

I have had 4 children participate in the Halloween parade and would be sad to see it go. The children look forward to it and the older ones really enjoy seeing the little ones walk through the halls. Please reconsider your decision!

I think that, not only should the kindergarten kids parade, but also ALL students should dress in costume on that day.

I was disappointed to learn that the Halloween parade had been cancelled, and shocked that the decision had been made without consulting the PTA.

Please respect this long lasting tradition to our community and respect our parents right to make the decision, not the principle himself.

Parent of a McLean HS freshman and a Junior at Madeira...traditions are important and administrative decisions should be transparent. Let the parents vote, discuss decision with the PTA executive committee.

Children need opportunities to show their individual creativity in safe environments. Schools can and should provide this. I question the decision to cancel.
