I am curious.... What caused the cancellation of the parade?

Unfortunately, I'm worried that we're getting a glimpse of why so many teachers left last year -- it was amazingly sad to see. And perhaps why an experienced assistant principal suddenly decided -- near the end of August -- to pursue a position that would better suit the needs of her family. Something doesn't seem right and its bigger than a Halloween celebration.

This is unacceptable. I can imagine how sad and disappointed the K's are, and so are the other grades and the parents, of course.

The parade is a great fun for the school and costs absolutely nothing. Traditions like that create unique memories and true school spirit.

Parent of 6th graders. There's still time to reinstate it, right?

This is an unacceptable, heavy-handed, and unilateral decision by a principal who has yet to demonstrate qualities of a leader.

I wasn't planning on signing since I have a 6th grader and it didn't affect me -- so I showed this to her she said, "That's the best part of October! We love seeing the kindergartners in their costumes! They can't take it away - it's tradition."

Very disappointed to learn this was cancelled without any consultation with parents and teachers. And we haven't been notified by the school. Especially after already telling our kindgarten son about how he gets to wear his costume to school on Halloween and be in a parade

I was surprised and saddened to learn from a friend, rather than through the school, that the traditional Halloween parade had been canceled. My daughter (and her big brother!) would absolutely love it and I don't understand what the rationale could be. Please offer an explanation.

Mother of four children -- kindergartners past, present, and future -- who doesn't want to see this lovely tradition disappear!
