Open Letter From Star Wars Collectors to Hasbro

I'm with the rest. I was drawn into collecting the action figures in 2008 with the Legacy Collection. In the last three years it's been painful to watch the decline of the 3.75 line.

I've been a fan of the 3 3/4" line since '78. I bought back into the game in '95 and have spent an immense amount of time, money and effort supporting a toy line that redefined the industry. Hasbro has done an incredible job keeping collectors in the fold over the years and even went so far as to reach out to the collector demographic with Q&A a few years back. Unfortunately, it seems you didn't always want to hear what collectors had to say, even though other major corporations would chop off a few digits for the opportunity. Interestingly, as soon as you stopped this communication, the quality of the product as well as your means of getting it to the consumer went down the toilet. Once this happened, many collectors began to jump ship and Hasbro used that as a convenient excuse to stop caring about an incredibly loyal and lucrative demographic. Hasbro still has a loyal following as well as many collectors who would quickly jump back in with both feet if only they felt appreciated. Needless to say, the current direction is not earning many fans. When you get ready to rethink this thing guys, collectors will be waiting with pockets full of cash that we've saved up since the TVC line imploded. We know you're sorry, now prove it!

Hasbro, please know this. the love for Super Articulated 3.75 Star Wars Figures is very potent. There's a long history for those figures and us fans DO NOT want to see this line end. Please do not cease from making this figures and vehicles. Thanks.

I used to collect at least two of every figure and many more of the troop characters. Now I will not be getting anything from the new line

They can do better

I have been in love with Star Wars since I was introduced to it by Episode I at 8 years old. It was amplified by my collecting of Hasbro's figures, and I have never had as much joy from any other toy collecting. Unfortunately due to financial reasons, I had to stop in 2006 from buying any other figures, despite the incredible products on offer. Recently I have begun my crusade to collect all that I missed, and it has been a really fun pass time, rekindling warm childhood memories. But when I saw the cheap-looking, but expensive, recent 3 3/4 inch figures, I was let down. The Black series is very hard to find, the quality is shoddy and the prices are sky high. The alternatives are 5 POA figures which are also poorly made for a premium price. I was so excited for the new film and the possibilities of new super-articulated 3 3/4 inch figures, and so far have been let down. The main line is also incredibly expensive for a simple toy that should have no reason to be at the price it is. Unfortunately, I won't be buying any of the 5 POA figures for the new film, but were Hasbro to produce Super articulated figures at a decent price, I wouldn't hesitate. This is an interest I hope to pass on to my kids one day, and would love for them to feel as inspired by the films and merchandise as I have.

Hasbro has been so good for Star Wars and toy collectors for almost 20 years now and for that I know we are all eternally grateful. With so much new content coming in the foreseeable future, I can't express enough how disappointed I am in Hasbro's decision to downgrade it's 3.75" action figure line to a more simplistic low articulation format. After hitting some home runs with some fantastic figures in recent years, this seems like a drastic change. I appreciate there are complexities of producing a toy line that has a finite list of characters or popularity lifespan, that as a consumer I will never have the privilege of understanding, Again, with so much media content waiting to be be made and released well into the next decade, it is very concerning that the beloved 3.75" line has taken this backstep in quality, in an attempt to endear the more expensive and newer 6 inch line to longtime collectors. The result of this decision seems to be a feeling of resentment among the collector customer base. People of all ages who buy the toys, not just for their children, but for their own enjoyment, many of whom could not enjoy them as a child, or just want to revisit those days again, who have invested literally tens of thousands of dollars in Star Wars action figures are finding a voice to tell you what they want. I suggest you listen. So please, in the interests of keeping the Star Wars brand a positive and fun prospect for so many people, please consider our collective grievance and help us help you in driving the brand to a better place over the coming years. I am done with Star Wars action figures if their will not be any more collector oriented lines.

All these new products suck. Hasbro you can do better. I've been collecting since 1995 and have never seen the Star Wars line go this low as to produce dollar store quality figures. Shame

Please Listen go collectors to some degree.

I am angry and even disgusted by Hasbro's lack of respect and what would appear a display of contempt towards towards collectors of star wars figures all over the world. Following Disney's long term commitment to reignite the star wars universe and to also focus on producing star wars films which will captivate audiences all over the world such as the original films ( episodes 3 - 6). Instead of continuing to produce quality figures with excellent articulation which I may add, increases playability value especially for younger children. Here's the thing, Hasbro know full well that with the overwhelming excitement and anticipation of the upcoming Force Awakens star wars fans and particularly children will want to purchase Force Awakens figures regardless of quality regardless of their quality. However I believe Hasbro are insulting the intelligence of not only collectors but also children who will want to play with these figures. I have nephews who used to playing with my legacy and 30th edition figures(when I let them) produced over the last 8 years and they enjoyed placing them in various poses. However when they purchased the poorly articulated Rebels figures they would become frustrated and angry at the lack of articulation which severely reduced the playability and enjoyment. Disney want to take us all back to the magic of the original star wars films, but Hasbro seemingly want to take us all back to the sub standard quality of the figures produced in the seventies. Hold your head in shame Hasbro....

Thanks HASBRO, you were able to make my expectations lower than I had expected...

As a serious toy collector that still buys multiples of figures and ships( and have done since the late 90s) the regression in the main line has been terribly disappointing to say the least. To not give us the option of SA alongside limited articulated figures is both baffling and upsetting. And the small choice of figures at launch compounds the frustration. I also have a nine year old son that "knows his stuff". He is a lightsaber nut and has every saber released since the "spring loaded" range. He has not expressed any interest in your TFA products(Sans the Kylo Saber) and instead has migrated to LEGO. So much apathy instead of excitement. Poor show.

Saddened to see such a drop in quality with TFA line, it will be the first time I buy no product for a new movie.

Hasbro needs to know their efforts these days are very poor and soon kids will realize as much as collectors there are better options. From TFA to Jurassic World and avengers, Hasbro has consistently shown they have lsot touch with what made their lines great as recently as two years ago.

Very, very poor effort from Hasbro. The worst thing is, we know that they can do better. And the most condemning thing is that we also know that they have already invested in SA tooling. But they choose not to use it. The unimaginative use of the Star Wars IP and general lack of quality, even with regards to the type of plastic being used, may just be the straw that finally breaks the collectors back. Absolutely no excuse for Hasbro to appeal to the principle of mediocrity in this way.

I had really been looking forward to Force Friday, but Hasbro isn't offering what I am interested in. That's 3.75" figures with quality paint and articulation. Some of the 5 POA figures look fine but I want to see at least 9 POA by adding knee and elbow joints. If quality figures come out I will happily buy all the vehicles. We have the money and we want to spend it on awesome Star Wars products.

I just am baffled by how lackluster this launch is. These figures are just subpar. And I have been a collector since 1996 of the new figs... :(

I really was looking forward to collecting new Force Awakens figures in the Super Articulated 3.75" line and am severely disappointed. I have no interest in the 6" line as the price is not attractive and I don't have space nor do I wish to collect figures of characters I already have that were perfect in the 3.75" scale. And I like the 3.75" scale for vehicle variety. Please bring back SA 3.75" figures! I want to spend my money on Star Wars figures, but have nothing to buy now!
