It's ridiculous. Water is not a prescription medication. It's a life's essential.

As a mom and pre school teacher these kids need to have full access to their water bottles. My girls when they are at the day care where I work Pocono Mountain Kids Village we have a strict rule that the kids do not have any juice until pm snack.b the kids have full access to their water bottles all day everyday. My daughter who is not in kindergarten is struggling because she misses being able to drink water when she is thirsty. This is also a healthier choice for the kids.

It is much healthier for kids to drink water and better for their system to flush out the impurities throughout the day

It's very hard for kids to not have this option. My son cramps at practice.

Water is healty for the body and children at school should be encouraged to drink it! Taking water fountain breaks disrupts class! If children aren't aloud to have water in classrooms neither should the teachers!

PMSD has sent out a conflicting message...in elementary grades, water is encouraged and allowed. As they get up to 7th grade on...it's forbidden without a doctor's note. These doctor's notes have cost me in the past a co-pay, unnecessary visit where the doctor laughs at the absurdity, and time taken out of school for such a thing. Not all doctor appointments work with the school schedule. This is an unecessary burden on parents for something as simple and life essential as water. Hydrating one's self should be an individuated habit of personal necessity, not one that requires a doctor's note. Athletic kids need hydration all day, not just guzzling it before practice or a game. If you sweat more, you're going to require more replenishing. If past issues of alcohol caused this severe measure, I think it's time to reconsider. Students who disobey or abuse substances at school will find whatever angle, but it need not be taken away from all for a few. And I agree, the water fountains are less than desirable to many.

It is very disheartening to know that decisions like these are what takes any of the precious time of our administrators, teachers or staff, using our outrageously high tax dollars to discuss things like this. That, together with the fact that I am not at all comfortable with the quality of the water being provided via water fountains is NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Do we really need to be signing a petition for something as simple as water? Get it together Pocono Mountain.

The district is out of control with rules and regulations they need to worry about providing a better education for the children I wish I had another option of schools for my children to attend! Pocono mountain is not the school it was in the 80 and 90's

Its absolutely ridiculous. Kids should be able to bring a bottle of water to drink from rather then leave the classroom to drink from the fountain.

As a registered dietitian with a special interest in sports nutrition this rule is ridiculous. The health benefits of staying hydrated throughout the day are many & a water fountain won't allow for the 64-80 oz of water per day recommendation, particularly because your child is at school more than they are at home (awake) during the week. Don't let the acts of a few effect the health of many

Why can't they have water that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Really..I don't know any other schools that don't allow water bottles.. I rather send my kid to school w water then have them leave a class and drink from the fountain.. let's these kids have water bottles if anything have them bring in a brand new bottle and let refill in school.. can't see why this is even debatable unless kids r bringing in liquids other then water in a water bottle

We give our kids filtered water to take to school. It makes sense for parents to send their kids to school with water they know is clean and healthy. Kids also do not need a hall pass to drink out of a fountain.
