I have equally supported all sports in Somers for the past 13 years. My husband has been a volunteer baseball, softball and basketball,coach for the past 8 years. I have never turned down an opportunity to buy a raffle ticket from any kid or parent trying raise money for their sport. I kindly request the TB and Parks and Rec to work together so these girls have a properly cut, will lit, and manicured field with a scoreboard to play on. I We are talking about adjusting grass measurements on an already existing field (upper right Reis). That's it!

I've coached my two daughters in Somers softball for 9 years and currently my younger daughter plays for the High School. They have never had and still don't have a field to truly call their "Home" field. Every Saturday I'd need to hurry up to pack the team bag as soon as one game ended, throw the bag and my daughter in the car and hurry to drive over to another field in Somers to coach my other daughter's game, often to find that they had to start warming up without me. It was insanity - there absolutely needs to be a field in Somers dedicated to the girls. Your denying the girls of this town the opportunity to imagine of one day hitting a home run over the fence on their home turf, or even worse, your denying them the chance to actually "go yard" at home some day, one of the greatest feelings in sports. The girls love this game and if you want the program to grow, this is an absolute necessity.

it's about time. Girls have been second forever. That field was originally built for baseball but as usual they built it wrong so the girls get the left overs. What about the foul balls - that was the issue landing on the street

I sign this in fond memory of Frank Granata, an original Somers LIONS member, who was the first in Somers to push for recreation facilities and events for our young girl athletes.
