Keep Gough Whitlam Park and Waterworth Park for the Community

Keep it for the community.

This is privatisation of public land by stealth - or so they hoped. Increasingly the community is being shut out of Council planning decisions and private, vested interests with nil to narrow wider community benefit are holding sway. This process must be opposed, investigated and stopped in its tracks.

We need to keep open recreation areas and we need community consultation. At last, Council will have to produce a plan of management.

Our club need this extension of playable fields.

Keep your greedy hands off our parks, stupid politicians and greedy property developers!!!!!

There is already a huge expansion of unit dwellings being constructed in the Canterbury council area bringing in many new residents. There is now a greater need for community consultation on public areas for the best interests of the greater community and I support the Cook River Titans proposals

At some stage the supposed counsellors need to take into account the greater needs of its constituents. Rather than the self serving situations they continue to approve...this is an opportunity to give something back to the grass roots and the greater good of the community.

I absolutely agree that Canterbury Council must consult ALL those affected before making decisions about public spaces. Council wants our support for their desire not to amalgamate. We want their support in preserving our public spaces.

Councils never consolidate with rate payers they determine this for there own benefits.

Canterbury Council is setting lower and lower standards in community consultation and engagement. I strongly oppose the way matters regarding open spaces and park lands are conducted at council.

Cooks River Titans is a relatively young football club. Given its infancy, the club already has amassed 19 teams (nearly 300 players) in its first year of existence, which is previously unheard of! There is a demand for football in the area and Cooks River Titans (CRT) needs to be able to cater for the demand. It's crazy for Waterworth Park not to be utilised by the club for games during the winter months, to cater for what will be ever increasing demand. Given the other bodies in conjunction with CRT have provided a plan for the overall benefit of the local area and broader community, it would reflect poorly on the council's should it not accept the proposal put forward.

How can the voice of the community be ignored...shame on you Canterbury Council!

Please put the interests of the community ahead of any private interests...open spaces are scarce!

A plan is essential for the parks along the Cooks River, including Waterworth and Gough Whitlam Parks. Council has approved the construction of a huge increase in units and town houses around the Cooks River region in Canterbury and Earlwood and it is vitally important to keep safe, open green space to be enjoyed. The council report into the proposed archery site was not supportive, and residents have seen no evidence of the demand for an archery facility in our LGA. All I am seeking is the council provide a plan for this region and seek residents feedback before implementing any new developments.

No one interest group should have exclusive say about how we use public recreational spaces

Please do not make this area unsafe for general users. Soccer is a great sport for community fitness. I support the Cooks River Titans' request to use this park. Why was this not discussed at the Council meeting?

Archery is good but please consider how many users there will be compared to soccer field in winter and an open park for summer. (We can share) Councillors have you notice how your community love the sport? If you don't then maybe you need to go around and notice rather than just going around on election time and be a pencil pushing member that will not do anything good for your constituents.

Maintain our open spaces properly instead of trying to redevelop.

Please remind me why I pay council rates & why we have state elections & why we have a council???
