We, the undersigned, confirm that on February 23, 2015, Trustee Glover directed staff to conduct a survey to determine the true enrollment numbers if a a French Immersion middle school were to open near Millwood.
We also confirm that Superintendent Susan Winter was present at the meeting of February 23, 2015.
I would like to encourage Susan Winter and Dr. Malloy to give more consideration to this issue as it is a reasonable, logical and long term plan for present and future FI students in west Etobicoke. I am strongly considering other avenues for both my FI children if Bloordale is not an option.

The distance from our home to Hilltop will take almost 30 minutes each way. This is unreasonable for a student starting in grade 6. There needs to be another option for children in FI.

Bloordale Middle School is currently running at about 56 percent capacity. No reason why an FI program would not fit. The fact that large amounts of students are going to Mississauga for their middle years and then trying to return in their secondary years is a problem that the TDSB needs to address.

The board needs to recognize the growth of the FI program in Western Etobicoke (like they did in Rexdale) and facilitate a site such as Bloordale that would ensure that all TDSB students have equity in achieving their goals? With the numbers of FI students growing at the rate that it is, is it not a disservice to still follow a pathway that was established over 30 years ago? When families have gone to other boards to further thier child's FI education, hasn't the TDSB failed us?

Yes! We are in favour of opening up Bloordale as a F.I. middle school option. Much closer/convenient and friendlier option for our child. When the time comes, we have made the decision not to continue F.I. if Hilltop is the middle school offering the program.

It is a shame for our kids from Millwood Junior School-2 classes and Briarcrest Junior School (Extended French Program), not to have school more close to their homes (age 10 to 13), so that kids need to spend time traveling (1.5 to 2 hours every day-at that age, instead to invest time in after school activities that they will benefit from), or to give up . In addition to that , we have school (schools) that are much more closer-walking distance, and that can accomodate that number of kids.

Would greatly appreciate the consideration to have a French immersion middle school in closer proximity to Millwood JS to ensure FI children graduating from Millwood Junior school have opportunity to continue French Immersion without concern of distance and uncertainty of transportation.
