The road in front of our house has had deep potholes every couple of week since winter started. The road is frequently flooded and very dangerous.

The condition of R494 is a disgrace to those responsible for its up-keep. Immediate remedial action is required.

The road in question is a disgrace. Do any of our politicians care? Have they ever driven to Killaloe? Not a single one has canvassed in my area. Probably scared of the reaction they will get if they show their faces

The road surface and borders are both highly dangerous with no safe passageway for pedestrians be they mothers with buggies, the elderly or runners, The road needs to be fixed urgently and safe passageways created for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. I have customers visiting our business in ballina for training and treatments and they constantly say that the R494 is very bad country road after coming off the motorway...A tad embarrassing. Despite the bridge this road needs immediate attention.

Now that the Buttevent town centre road has been repaired this leaves our stretch of Road from Birdhill to Ballina as the most embarrassingly neglected road in Ireland.
Using this potential bridge as an excuse not to maintain this road is unacceptable.
The road also needs a footpath and cycle-path from the swimming pool car park to at least Larkins Garage.
The road is quite simply a death trap.

I regularly use this road and I must say it is appalling. What disturbs me is that I can see further deterioration every time I use it.

This road is a disaster. It is unacceptable that the condition of this road has been allowed to deteriorate to such an extent that it now poses a major hazard to motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, children. With traffic increasing in recent years due to population increases and proximity to the M7 motorway, this road can no longer be considered a tertiary route, but rather the major route that connects East Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary and onwards to the M7. With the announcement recently of 300 new Financial Services jobs in Nenagh and 60 new jobs announced for Technopath in Ballina, with continued growth in jobs in Limerick through Regeneron, Vistakon, Cook Medical, etc., and with Ballina having a highly educated, trained, skilled population, let us now join the dots and get people to work in these great places safely and without wrecking their cars all the time..

This road is in a dangerous condition in daylight but is treacherous after dark. So far, damage has been done to vehicles, but it's only a matter of time before somebody is seriously hurt in a collision.
The repair of this road should not come under the budget of the new bridge, but should be provided under the County Council road maintenance budget.

Road is a danger to anybody travelling on it and we would not be surprised if if causes a serious accident. Alot of people are put off and try to avoid this road altogether.
