I felt very bad when I heard the announcement the Fr. Thompson was leaving.
I have heard many rumors about what Fr. Thompson behavior has been with some parishioners. We have not experienced any negative interaction with Fr. Thompson personally. He has done a lot of good financially for the church. We are finally out of debt. Plus, we have a prospering Pre-School. Some need to be careful what we wish for. I have heard that one day one of the three catholic churches in the Point Loma/Ocean Beach area may be closing. We need to pray and heal from the negativity that has lead to Fr. Thompson's leaving.

Of course, I do not know all the facts. However, what I do know the Fr. Thomson is a sharp individuals who brings many novel events to our parish to foster camaraderie, friendship, and belonging to Sacred Heart Parish. He has been a force for good here. I won't throw the 1st stone. Will you?

This disgraceful situation is beyond belief. Fr. Thomas has been a pillar for my family and me during my husband's last days and beyond. How can the diocese take such an egregious action.

I was so sad to hear about Fr. Thomas’s “retirement.” As a mother of three small children, Fr. Thomas has always made my family feel welcome and supported at church. With two kids also at the preschool, we have also been thankful for Fr. Thomas’s support of the school, which has been like a second home to our kids and such a loving environment. We hope this decision can be reconsidered and Fr. Thomas will stay. If it’s true that this is the result of some anonymous grievance, then it is a sad day for our church community as the parishioners had no input. We’re going to have to pray for some healing among our parishioners. Thank you Fr. Thomas for all your hard work!

Please keep Father Thomas. After being away from the church forever 40 years, I met with Fr as I didn't know what to do. Sacred Heart is where I was baptized, first communion, confirmation, and married. I immediately felt at ease with him as he said it was his "job" to help all souls back to the church. I've been attending now for over 10 months, even went through RCIA (which he suggested) to bring me closer to my faith. I finally feel like I am part of the church community. The church needs more pastors like Father Thomas and SHOB is lucky to have him.

Sacred Heart has been my family's parish for the last two years since moving to San Diego. As a family with young children, Fr. Thomas has made us feel welcome, going as far as preaching at Sunday Mass and putting a note in the bulletin that all young families are always welcome, no matter how loud and disruptive our children may be at times. My two children also attend the parish preschool and Fr. Thomas has been an advocate for the preschool administration and allowed them to do the amazing job they have done transforming a failed elementary school into a vibrant preschool community. Without being presented all of the details of his removal, this decision seems to be short-sighted and I pray that this is reconsidered, if it is a matter of petty personality differences.

His leaving will be a great loss to Sacred Heart. I sincerely hope this will be remedied by this petition. We need good priest and He is one of the best.

We have been parishioners of Sacred Heart for 38 years and parishioners in other parishes prior. So, we have been exposed to many types of church leadership. Prior to the arrival of Father Thomas to Sacred Heart, we feared the church would be closed. We knew there were financial problems, the school closed and cutbacks were happening at the church. In the recent years before Father Thomas our pastors became ill. Possibly, that drove some parishioners to take the lead in running the parish. Perhaps, they were reluctant to release their role and work hand in hand with Father. Our family welcomed Father Thomas with open arms. It may have been part of our connection with the Polish heritage! We truly feel he is our Father and that we can reach out to him for anything and have all the confidence that he will respond. He deserves the utmost respect. He has a unique way of asking for assistance and for the first time in over 60 years of being a Catholic, Our family got involved in the church community. We got to know church members on a personal basis, attended social and liturgy events. I began volunteering at the office and cooking for all three resident priests. My husband got joy when hearing his name spoken in the Polish way and he and Father would enjoy light conversation. My mother and sister became parishioners and got involved in taking care of flowers for the altar. Honestly, Father brought us into the church community like we never thought possible. Recently, Father asked me and my mother and sister to support the Altar and Rosary Society. I said, Father, I am not sure if it is “my thing” but I will try. At our first meeting there was a heated exchange with a member that was not initiated by Father. We were totally taken aback by the disrespect given to a priest. In all my life, I have never witnessed such disrespect to a priest and hope I never do again. Since his arrival, We have witnessed the dedication of Father Thomas with Sacred Heart church and par

FR Thomas was presented with a difficult situation when he was appointed as our pastor. Church attendance , finances, and the school were all in decline . Changes had to be made, decisions made, and leadership was needed. FR Thomas was forefront in all of those areas.
I am deeply disappointed he will be leaving. I will miss him as a leader who had to make tough decisions, committed to the parishioners of Sacred Heart, and the future of our church.

I have worked with Fr Thomas Thompson this past year as a lector in the church and as a volunteer in the parish office. I have found him to be a professional and caring pastor, always placing the needs of the parish and his parishioners first.

It would be foolish to take Fr. Thomas away from us. Between him and Fr. Emmanuel we have two world class preachers. They are the reason we attend Sacred Heart. We live closer to two other parishes nearby, and if you take priests like this away, you lose good parishioners.
