Are you kidding me?! How dare anyone say anything bad about anyone - especially Father Thomas. I'm shocked and dismayed that perishioners would go to this length to hurt someone so special. Shame on whoever is saying hurtful things about him. Speaking from my heart I say that not only do we need Father Thomas but we should feel honored to have him as our leader. His work, his integrity and his love for us speaks volumes. I love him and I love his ministry. Thank God we are blessed with his presence. Dear God, I pray for all Scred Heart parishioners that we all find integrity and goodness in our own hearts to be Christ's children and do the right thing. Amen.

As a member of the church for 43 years, I believe Father Thomas has done an excellent job! We had over 40 new families join us. Our school was heavily in debt and now it is debt free with families on the waiting list to attend. How was it done? Father Thomas making some great decisions. Our parish was barely making it. Now we have money in the bank for programs and emergencies. How was it done? Father Thomas leading the way as a spiritual leader and cutting many of our unnecessary costs. We must remember even though we have our church, there are those who will and do take advantage of it. He is always accessible, a smart and very kind man doing so much extra for the church that many do not know about. I write this with a tear in my eye. Please, please reconsider his retirement.

Fr. Thomas should stay in our Parish. He is doing a very good job in the upkeep of our Parish, a truly disciple of Christ. Although we have moved to another location close to 3 other churches, we decided to stay at Sacred Heart of OB because of Fr. Thomas.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Father Thomas’ pending retirement. Father Thomas have been very involved in bringing much needed change to our Parish over the past 2 years. He is warm, loving and very approachable. I called on him on Wednesday March 28th during Holy Week as my son was gravely ill and he arrived at my sons bedside at Kaiser Hospital within 45 minutes. He was warm, kind, compassionate and so loving as he anointed my son and prepared him to meet Our Lord and Savior. It was an honor to witness the sense of Peace and acceptance come over Jason. I’m not sure what Father was doing when I called but I’m sure he was busy in preparation for the Triduum and Easter Sunday Mass’. I am grateful for the dedication a Father Thomas has brought to our Parish and I pray that he will continue to be our Pastor.

I have been a parishioner at Sacred Heart parish for nearly four years. My dear wife, Susan Kaweski MD, has been a Sacred Heart Parishioner for many more years. We are both stunned, severely disappointed and angry with today's news that the Bishop (apparently without consulting parishioners) summarily dismissed Father Thomas as our Pastor.
Father Thomas married Susan and I. Since becoming our Pastor he has made necessary changes some of which has ruffled some very sensitive feathers, but all of which were necessary and extremely beneficial to the Parish. For eg., he got rid of Kathleen Hornsby who was very divisive individual within the Parish who was paid an unconscionable tens of thousands of dollars a year to sow discord. Under him, parish attendance has demonstrably grown, the parish's finances have gone from red to black and this is due not only to his leadership but his consistently hands on approach to being a pastor. He is involved 24/7 and attends Masses when he is not the celebrant: he just walks around, site in the balcony and observes,.HE CARES ABOUT HIS PARISHIONERS AND ACTIVELY SHOWS IT. Under him, the parish's buildings and grounds have undergone a magical and beautiful transformation. From the parish hall to the building beautiful windows, he has greatly beautified all. Respectfully, his dismissal as our pastor is wrong and will have a very destructive effect upon our parish. His dismissal was a very bad and uninformed step taken at a time when the Church, as a whole, can use such leaders as him. I fear for the future of our parish with him being unceremoniously show the door. My future as a parishioner is now undergoing severe reconsideration.

During my 40 years of being a parishioner, I had not seen so many changes in such a short period of time and the attendance to Sunday/Saturday mass has increased. Also, if you need to meet with him privately, he is readily available to meet. I have seen him around the church supervising or just chatting with the people working around the church.
In a couple of occasions during mass he has performed a marriage and a renewal of vows in the most simplistic and touching way. It was very gratifying to see this happening from a church built on love. We must keep Fathet Thomas as our pastor.

Father has done so much for us as a parish. He has been a wonderful spiritual leader. It is a shame that a few individuals have chosen to represent the entire parish for their skewed views. These are the same people who have depended on the parish for payment of services and now that it has been taken away they are spinning their webs to the Bishop. Well I say shame on you. We love Father!!!

Canon Thomas Thompson is a Christian human being and Roman Catholic Priest with flaws like all of us. He has been a leader in our parish and has made decisions that not everyone agrees with. The Parish is the People and our edifice is "a hospital for sinners". I was born into this parish family in 1950 and have lived through the tenure of many pastors. Please reconsider Canon's resignation, he has led much goodness and spirituality and is young with vitality and ideas for our Parish's future.

"But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, 'He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.'" John 8:7. I have seen many good things that Fr. Thomas for many people in this parish. It pains me to see him hurt like this.
