I'm grateful the council recently adopted an urban forestry plan unanimously. To make it effective however, you will need to incorporate uncomfortably high fines to dissuade developers and others from trying to remove trees and ask for forgiveness later.

ENOUGH! We need trees within our area to help balance the environment AND our lives. Cutting down our trees is disruptive to people and wildlife. It needs to stop now.

Developers that destroy the large trees should not be allowed to develop in Fort Worth.

It is horrible that our city allows this type of clearcutting to continue. Let's stop this travesty! I think that when a developer does this , that company should be required to replace the trees with similar ones. Not cheap, but what gives them the right to foul the air that all of us breathe?

East Fort Worth natives love our trees and value the wildlife they house. Seeing more houses is NOT what we want. Preserving nature, clean air, and erosion control are far more important than new housing developments.

Has anyone done a survey of current significant trees in FW, maybe by housing area/district? It is hard to know exactly how much is lost if we don't know what we have now.

It’s shameful to knock down 100 year old trees. I live on a lot that has 200 post oaks. You can build houses and save the trees. In the past, houses were built around the trees.
