Call for Resignation of YRDSB Trustee Nancy Elgie for Calling a Black Parent "Nigger"

Not acceptable behaviour. If the situation was reversed she would have been fired by now.

Sad, hurt, embrassed, confused, and angered by this story. Resignation would be the only proof of true remorse and to reassure the communities directly served by the elected official's position, that integrity is maintained.

Racist tirades should not be tolerated on the public dime. This outcome is not an acceptable use of my tax dollars in York Region. This person should resign or be fired. Obviously this board has no credibility.

I wish this weren't necessary. I wish it didn't happen. But wishes aren't action.

Racism is unacceptable on every level. Our school board deserves better. Our students deserve better.

How can Trustee Elgie be viewed to fairly adjudicate any issues related to racism, bigotry and/or equity in YRDSB when she was openly racist? Attitude reflects leadership.

It is inconceivable that this individual continues to work in the school system where we should be leading by example.

Zero tolerance is for all! No excuse for this shameful behaviour. Protect our children!

This is an opportunity for York Region District School Board to show their beliefs to the voter who elected them.

This is disgraceful. Totally unacceptable. This is a prime example of how our children are treated behind closed doors. This type of behavior is systemic. No wonder so many of our boys are on the streets and in prisons.

Trustee needs to Resign now.

She should be fired.
