This is typical of the YRDSB!!
She should be fired from this position immediately! What example is she setting to others?
My children were the victim of racism under this same school board, and their voices went unanswered until I got the press involved; this was 6 years ago. YRDSB promised investigations and changes...well what is their answer now?

This is unacceptable and reflective of the systematic issues in the YRDSB. She needs to step down.

That I even have to sign a petition to "convince" the YRDSB to fire this woman absolutely infuriates me...

I cannot believe this person has not lost her position. There should be zero tolerance for this behaviour in the school system.

This is so wrong. how are we to educate our next generations with no racial issues and bullying if it's hired within our school boards. Shame on this individual. And they better get ready for the backlash they will get for this. It's unacceptable in any regard. Let alone from a educational professional.

Reading and following this story all the way from New York City. This is ridiculous! Nancy MUST be terminated indefinitely. In a world already filled with negativity and chaos we do not need to perpetuate this kind of attitude, behavior, and arrogance. Nancy's racist remarks need to be addressed seriously followed with serious action; immediate termination. For God's sake she works in an environment with our youth, our youth the future of tomorrow we do not this type of person in a learning atmosphere. Pls remove her NOW.

There is clear evidence and I have no doubt that Nancy Elgie said those words. It is unacceptable and frankly I am shocked that she has not resigned. This behaviour should not be tolerated by any race or culture.

This is shameful and disgusting behaviour from a person who is not only a public servant but who is in a position of trust as a school trustee. She should be demonstrating to our children how to behave, and not how to promote hate in our society. An apology is not enough, she should resign, and if not, then the school board should dismiss her.

The Canadian value is we are better than the culture of U S A.. nor do we want the Trump effect to change our value. Therefore if as bad as USA is those that attacked individual with name calling were fired. Therefore we must do equal or better which in this case is to fire her.
To do better charge her with a hate crime.

It is unacceptable for Nancy Elgie to be able to maintain her position. Her actions were racist and should be subjected to a zero tolerance policy. Her apology means nothing unless it is accompanied by her resignation.
