Under no circumstances is the 'N' word acceptable, particularly from our elected officials who stand as examples to our communities, particularly our children!

this trustee MUST resign... this should have happened without a petition. there is no excuse for uttering racial comments ... stop wasting time and get out!! You have lost the respect and tryst if those who elected you so take whatever dignity you have left and go!

I don't believe for a second that this was her first act of racism while in this position, and I do not believe it will be her last. She needs to go!

Appalled and disgusted! I am ashamed to say I am a ratepayer in a community where this individual is tolerated as a public representative. Not acceptable.

This lady is an abomination. Her excuse is lame. Keeping her on is sending the wrong message to a civil society. She needs to resign or be fired.

Shameful behaviour, not only on the part of Nancy Elgie, but also the entire board. This is no role model for our children. An apology is only the first step. Resign.

Disgusting behaviour made worse by a disingenuous and offensive excuse that she struggled for a word to identify Ms. Grant because of a head injury. Please.

This calls for her resignation or should be forced to leave. A poor representation of what our educators stand for.

Totally unacceptable behaviour no matter what her health issues may have been at the time.

Your comment is ageist ! I agree with firing Elgie…due to her comment BUT not her age. Hazel McCallion ran Mississauga until she was 93….sentient, and sharper than many of her colleagues. Not everyone who is old is demented! All isms are judgemental. Racism, Classism, Sizism, Ageism and so on…….
