This woman and her ilk scatter every single executive suite, school board, and board of directors for charities as well as corporations. I'm sick of them getting a pass. DUMP HER NOW.

Shameful behaviour. She should resign if truly sorry, or be removed from this position of responsibility. What does this say about the Board's zero tolerance policy for racism?

Use of this word, especially by an elected official is repugnant.

Why does it take a petion to get people to do the right thing?
Using a racial slur in a public meeting should result in immediate dismissal.

What a disgrace this is! Shame on us York Region and shame on YRDSB for giving her little more than a slap on the wrist. This is beyond unacceptable. Elgie is a trustee for a board which is charged with the duty of educating our children, yet she displays racism, prejudice, lack of control, and poor judgement. There is no place for someone with Elgie's erred philosophies in our school board. Dismiss her NOW.

She clearly cannot represent the interests of all students while holding these views.

This person should no longer be employed, and the apology should not be private.

In this day and age, there is no excuse for using that word. It's not even remotely acceptable, even as an insult. Nancy Elgie has demonstrated that she is not qualified to oversee the education of my children and she should resign. If, as I fully expect, she cannot see that an apology is inadequate, and will not leave her office voluntarily, then she should be removed.

Zero tolerance means this is unacceptable. Not only should she be fired, she should take courses in empathy and learn about race and privilege.
