Call for Resignation of YRDSB Trustee Nancy Elgie for Calling a Black Parent "Nigger"

UNACCEPTABLE.

There is no place in education for racists.

This is absolutely unacceptable from an elected official or anyone. This person has no business making discussions regarding the education of our children.

Disgusted someone in education is so poorly educated.

The mere fact that this word was used in this day and age points to an insensitivity and blindness to history and the experience of people of colour even today. There is no way this person should have any say in childrens' education.

This is abhorrent. We cannot entrust the wellbeing of our children to racists and bigots. She needs to go.

This kind of comment is beyond inappropriate. An apology is inadequate.

Unacceptable! In light of the political and social climate in the US, we must be sure to address racism and bigotry swiftly in Canada.

This is not acceptable. I'm sure Ms Elgie is mortified but the damage done is too significant for there to be not resulting action. Rather, the lack of action sends a message I don't think any of us want. Please explain to Ms Elgie that she must step down.

Anyone who thinks it is ok to use the "n" word and still maintain their position of trustee is dead wrong. She needs to resign.
