This is absolutely unacceptable. Nancy Elgie should not be working in education in any capacity.

This is disgusting. She should resign immediately and start reading bell hooks and Audre Lorde.

She should do the honourable thing and resign, her actions and language are far from that of a high level public servant

It is utterly reprehensible that an official of the YRDSB could use such disgusting language to the parent of a student no less. Nancy Elgie has proven herself unfit to serve the community. Her words and actions have poisoned the learning environment across the entire Board and beyond. Nancy Elgie, her fellow Trustees, and those within the Board who choose complicity either blatantly or through their silence and inaction, are all guilty of upholding white supremacy. Any individual who is complicit in Nancy Elgie's public display of racism is not fit to be involved in education. Resign!

Nancy Elgie breached the code of conduct; The School Board must not stand for this behavior.
It is also sad to hear that equity training is the only form of education used.
When breaking Human Right violations will be met with CRIMINAL SANCTIONS including jail-time&heavy fines in both federal and civil law will reparations match the crime.
Nancy Elgie RESIGN!!!!!!ALREADY!!!!!

I'm a Grade 11 student and outraged at the racist remarks made. What's even more angering is the fact she has not resigned and the school board has remained silent the entire time.

There is no way an elected trustee can be allowed to behave this way, and still have anyone take any antiracist policies seriously.

I was a YRDSB student up until graduating in 2011. It's appalling that a trustee could use the n word against a mother at a meeting. For a student trustee to use a racial slur so filled with hatred and an abhorrent history is more than inappropriate. Elgie and Parapally should not be the leaders for York Region students.

I had to move my children out of York Region Schools because of how they were treated. I still live in the region but I refuse to let my children self-esteem diminishes any further.

As a bi-racial mother with children in the school system it saddens me that some educators can still be so blind to the world around them.
Please don't let our children grow up in a system that demeans, belittles or causes them physical or emotional pain by racists or bigots.
