Call for Resignation of YRDSB Trustee Nancy Elgie for Calling a Black Parent "Nigger"

There is no place for this in our schools!

Keeping this person in power sends the wrong message to the public.

Nancy Elgie should be a shame using the N word in this day and age. A private apology is inadequate, The right thing is to resign from the YRDSB without hesitation.

It is disgraceful that someone in her position can use that kind of language without repercussions. An "apology" that was likely half-hearted is nowhere near good enough!

Growing up in this school district, I was taught that this word was grounds for immediate suspension. Are we holding children to higher standards than elected adults, now?

This kind of racism has no place in public education. Resign, so we can focus on dealing with the important work of addressing systemic racism, rather than backwards slurs

This kind of language is unacceptable and disgusting.

As a professor, I find this unconscionable behaviour.

please let us work together to promote care and kindness and to be respectful of everyone at all times

Zero tolerance

This is absurd. This person cannot be in a position of power.

Remove her. There is no tolerance for that behaviour!

Unacceptable for any individual in education to use racial slurs directed at a racial minority. She needs to be terminated without pay. The province should not pay for this at all.

If these were the open comments of Nancy Elgie, I have serious doubts about her capacity to contribute to the school board without inserting her obvious bias.

She should have resigned without if she was truly sorry and wanted her apology to be meaningful.

Anything less than a resignation in this case is unacceptable.

Unacceptable.

This is so unacceptable as a school trustee.

Racist or bigotted slurs towards ANY person is unacceptable. Follow your policy.
