Call for Resignation of YRDSB Trustee Nancy Elgie for Calling a Black Parent "Nigger"

Leaders of our educational communities simply cannot be permitted to maintain their position after the use of such a shameful and demeaning word directed at a member of their own community.

Disgusted and very disappointed.

Unacceptable behaviour by a school trustee who is supposed to represent all, not a token few.

Unexceptable! she is in a position to represent all and she failed to do that with ignorance. She should be removed from her position.

I support this petition to remove the trustee.

Outrageous and totally unacceptable.

This behaviour, and the school board's non-response, are unacceptable.

I am an educator and there is no excuse for this woman's hateful words. She needs to be fired immediately, so that students know they are valued. With one word, she has undone a lifetime of work. Let that be a message to other racists.

I don't think that hurtful word comes out unless it is felt deep down. She must step down or be removed.

I hope she has already been terminated, and I am just reading this late.

Unacceptable

This is unacceptable behaviour. We must lead by example. Consequences are necessary and her resignation should be at the top of the list.

It is important that Ms. Elgie resign or be terminated. Show that your zero-tolerance policy really is zero-tolerance, and that this kind of treatment is unacceptable.

So disgusting and what's even more appealing is there are no measures in place to have her fired.

Nancy Elgie HAS to resign. Racism has no place in our society.

There needs to be zero tolerance for this kind of behavior. Zero ....

If that word is on your vocabulary you have no business serving the public.

Appalling. We deserve better from our trustees.
