Call for Resignation of YRDSB Trustee Nancy Elgie for Calling a Black Parent "Nigger"

Signed a concerned Black parent!

My participation is to support a ZERO TOLERANCE for racism. If the teacher called a student a FAGGOT. ..there would be NO hesitation to terminate!

This kind of behavior is unacceptable for anyone but it is extremely ignorant and disrespectful for a public figure. An apology is not enough but it should be a public apology, not done in a cowardly way via email. If she is allowed to remain as a trustee, how can we have any belief in the "zero policy for discrimination" that the YRDSB is supposed to uphold? As a black parent, I find the behavior of nancy to be abhorrent and unacceptable. At the very least, she should resign from the YRDSB immediately.

That person needs to be educated off the job.

SHAME! This is despicable behaviour and Nancy Elgie has shown she is unfit to serve the public. She must resign immediately.

This behavior is deplorable. It is inexcusable. You can't possibly respect the welfare of all children if you clearly don't respect the welfare of all people.

It's time you retire. I don't know how any one can have any faith that this school board serves all children equally if outdated bigots like you are trustees.

It is unacceptable for a representative of a public school board to use racist and disrespectful language of this sort.

It's shameful she wasn't immediately fired. There is absolutely no excuse for this. An email apology?? Are you kidding me?

I survived Apartheid in South Africa to come to Canada and see THIS?! How is she still employed and paid by my TAX DOLLARS?! Private apologies are for friends...not racist educators employed in 2017 in Canada. That she is still employed is DEPLORABLE and makes everyone in the York Region School Board complicit in this hate mongers actions and words. Enough!!

can't believe she hasn't resigned already. a school trustee.. i should say UNtrustable with my childs education.

I do not want my tax dollars paying for an overt racist - i do not want to support anyone providing this kind of role modeling for my children or anyone else.

We cannot allow racism to have a place in the YRDSB. Elgie must be forced to resign.
