Call for Resignation of YRDSB Trustee Nancy Elgie for Calling a Black Parent "Nigger"

Someone that ignorant should not get to hold this position. She needs to find herself a different job, one that is not paid for by the taxpayers she's insulting.

I can not believe this would happen in our Country.

I am not shocked by this, but disgusted that it's a school trustee. There should be no contest as to whether Ms. Elgie should step down. I strongly support this petition. Thank you.

This woman has got to go. Her attitudes will pervade the entire staff, and are beyond acceptable.

She should be fired not allowed to resign.

It's a shame to know that a Canadian would use such degrading word to refer to a citizen of a multicultural diverse country that he and others of different ethnicities contributed and still contribute to.

We cannot normalize blatant racism. This cannot be undone with a simple apology, as though someone says something so abhorrent by accident. Everyone knows this word, what it means, and it's weight. This is a public school board, and as such it must demonstrate the VALUES of the community it serves - a lack of consequences for overtly violent and racist language against a community member casts doubt upon the legitimacy of the school board.

She must resign.

Every action has consequences and a normal world never use that racist word
