Disgusting individual.

A trustee should know better than to make a blatantly racist and derogatory comment and expect that she will continue to serve on a public board. An apology does not suffice. She should resign or be fired from her position.

Disgusting behaviour, yet only an example of a bigger systemic issue within our school systems. ZEROtolerance must be modeled by our "Trustees" surely??

Ms. Elgie's personal apology to Ms. Grant was absolutely necessary, but does not undo the harm to her credibility as a school trustee, responsible for the educational well-being of all the students under the Board's jurisdiction.

Zero tolerance means just that. She should do the right thing now and leave the board of trustees.

It's time to step down. Her apology was politically correct, however coming the heart is questionable. Furthermore I am sure there are several vibrant and relevant candidates who can fill her role. Time to step down, Elgin.

A late apology is not enough. Nancy Elgie has no place in any school board in Canada.

Students and parents at YRDSB deserve to feel safe from attacks from the very trustees that are supposed to serve them. If YRDSB leadership can't see that, they need to go too.
