I know my mother Mary Ketterer would be disappointed to see that an appropriate assessment of the environmental impact is not conducted prior to the demolition of the centre. Needless to say what is this saying to future Hong Kong generations with regards to being environmentally responsible.

It is appalling that WWF HK should be using the tactics of the most irresponsible developer! This is particularly so as the work is planned on the Internationally important Mai Po RAMSAR site. Plans, impact assessments, funding sources should all be in the public domain.

An EIA is essential. I detest pulling down a building. How old is the building? The creation of waste is terrible. I read someone suggested upgrading it. Even that usually entails a huge creation of waste. Hong Kong wake up and don’t destroy this place!

EIA has to be essential surely? Sponsorship is fine but experience teaches us all to be suspicious.
