Prevent Elmhurst Extended Care from expanding into a residential neighborhood

Elmhurst Extended Care Center, located at 200 E. Lake Street is a for-profit nursing home. The owners purchased three lots just south of the facility, tore down the homes and are now planning to expand their facility south onto Fremont Avenue, a residential street. Besides building a large commercial structure, they plan to add additional parking, which would be accessed from Fremont Avenue which is a dead end street with existing parking restrictions on the north side of the street already. Residents in this area are concerned about property values, additional population density, traffic, and more importantly the precedent this will set for allowing commercial facilities to be located within residential areas in Elmhurst. This is a quiet residential area and we do would like it to remain as such. While we welcome more single family homes, we do not feel a large for-profit retirement center will complement the area and will reduce property values.
This neighborhood has always been small, quiet, family friendly block. Additional traffic would cause a negative impact to the homes around them. Please respect those who live there and keep them safe.
I don't live in this neighborhood but I do live in Elmhurst. I think this project does not fit into the neighborhood and if approved, sets a bad precedent for our town.
The existing EEC facility is not maintained in a professional manner. The expansion of the commercial building and parking lot into the middle of the residential neighborhood would negatively alter the character of the neighborhood. The lots should remain zoned R2 to maintain the integrity of the neighborhood.
The owners of EEC are not operating at full capacity as it is. They want to expand smack dab into a residential neighborhood for 11 new beds and they are not filling all their existing beds. This facility is a 24/7 operation. Residents should be confident that when they purchase property in Elmhurst, the city will not allow development in a neighborhood that will significantly change the character or values.
Where did they get the permission to do this and the plan for future expansion?

I used to live in this area on Grantley, still live in Elmhurst, and don't think it is apporpriate to change the makeup of a residential neighborhood.
