Gov Newsom: Don't make a deal with the DEVIL at Diablo Canyon

Please close the Diablo nuclear reactors on time if not sooner.

Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant sits on several Earthquake faults that are long overdue. It is not Tsunami proof. The plant stores its radioactive waste there. It is a Fukushima just waiting to happen. Each day, the plant releases 2.5 billion gallons of warm ocean water that is used to cool the reactors which has changed the eco-system and has driven out the local species. The area is a spawning ground and the eggs and fry are sucked up and killed by the cooling system. I say close it down and get all of the radioactive equipment, structures and waste off of the fault lines and away from our coast.

The imagined benefits are FAR outweighed by the verifiable risks, starting with waste material, which cannot be neutralized. This decision is the political equivalent of crossing our fingers and hoping the catastrophe which absolutely can happen somehow just won't.

Nuclear energy is dangerous and costly. End it.

Nuclear power is a terrible idea for many, many, many reasons. SHUT THIS DOWN NOW.

Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant license should not be extended. It must be shut down before or during 2025. I live in San Luis Obispo County not far from where this plant is located.

It’s a false comparison to have to decide between using less fossil energy and nuclear energy for power generation, especially nuclear technology that is decades old and sits in a seismically active zone. Diablo Canyon should never have been allowed to go online, especially when design and construction defects were discovered at the time it was seeking its operating license. We need to move on.

This nuclear power plant is a state suicide just waiting to happen. If "the big one" earthquake - which we all know is coming - should occur while this plant is operating, we are all doomed. Far from being extended, this plant should be closed immediately! Immediately! Every day it is operating is a day we may all die.

Ultimately, even tho keeping DCanyon open seems like a DOE project (so ¿why should the people of CA pay for it?), it's really a "need" of the DODefense. Moniz & Macron both state that national defense depends on NPPs. Gov. Newsom, jeopardizing the people of CA, USA and ultimately the world is not worth it. The cost will be astronomical and the people will still be in jeopardy.

Please shutter this waste-creating power plant! Nuke plants are standing in the way of clean energy development with alternatives. Plus they are dangerous targets for espionage agents and attacks. Nuke plants delay our transition to peaceful electric energy production.

I'm VERY frustrated that this was kept from voters prior to your election! Reconsider shifting any Nuclear loans to fund Ocean Desalinization ASAP, Solar and Wind can easily provide Plenty of clean, safe Energy for CA. Time to put some new blood on the CPUC, it still has to many Peavey-type Pro Utility supporters!

There have been problems with lack of oversight at the powerplant.. The photos look awful. The agreement was to close in 2025. Listen to the people! Before you have a nuclear accident, from neglect and age at your nuclear power plant facility. WAKE UP CALL! The people say NO! Shut Diablo Canyon Powerplant! Before 2025 is best!

It is Madness to extend this broken, dangerous plant sitting on an Earthquake Fault! STOP!
