Currently, a potential voter is NOT REQUIRED to show identification at the polling place prior to voting in Delaware. If that person states they do not have an ID, they simply sign a form indicating they are who they say they are, and then they are allowed to vote (Delaware Law, Title 15, Chapter 49, Section 4937(a)). This current practice in Delaware is ridiculous. Everyone needs ID constantly throughout their lifetime. To conveniently NOT have an ID on Election Day seems suspect, at the very least.
We, the signatories of this petition, demand that the State of Delaware, via the Department of Elections, implement the needed regulations, or institute the appropriate legislation, to require all potential voters in the state to provide identification that includes a recognizable picture of the ID holder, at the polling place, prior to voting in any public election held in The State of Delaware.

The speed at which this momentum is building proves that Delaware citizens are fed up with these loose voting procedures. The Department of Elections can try to ignore us but they cannot ignore the thousands of people demanding basic accountability at the polls.

People have ID's for other things they want. Something as important as a vote should require an ID.
Make the same rule to vote as to buy cigarettes and alcohol. They have id's for that and voting is so much more important!
If you need to show I.D. at the Doctors Office and the Bank, you should have no problem showing I.D. to vote.
Voter ID is required in many countries, should be required in all states of the USA!!!!!
We can now register to vote at DMV when renewing a DL. One can also get a syate ID. You must have an ID to cash a paycheck or even apply for State assistance (TANF, Snap, or medical Assistance). WHY NOT FOR SOMETHING AS IMPORTANT AS AN ELECTION??? Makes no sense otherwise and appears shady!!!

Yes this should be required. You need to show an ID to purchase tobacco products, etc. Voting is even more important and each citizen is only allowed to vote once in any election.
