Del Obispo is a wonderful school and a perfect stepping stone to Marco which we also love.

I went to Del Obispo 20 years ago and love seeing all of my friends' kids go there now. Don't close a school so vital to our community!

Safety of the students should always come before any other issue. seems logical to me that it stay open. Administrators need to think outside the box on this one..

Del Obispo is a landmark for Dana Point. I went there, my brother and sister have all attended and made fantastic memories at Del Obispo. It wouldn't be right to change something that has worked for so many years! PLEASE DONT DO THIS TO OUR COMMUNITY

Why close a good school that children are already stablished in and force them to be biased out of their neighborhood? It seems more logical to find an empty building at retrofit it to meet the needs of the charter school.

As a military family who lived in Dana point briefly for two years, Del OBispo was where our daughter attended and our son attended Marco Forster. The transition of our children starting new schools after doing it a good number of times before as military kids was very smooth and easy mainly because Del Obispo and Marco Forster are right next to each other. It is an extremely logical set up to have a elementary school feed into the middle school right next to it . The other reason I believe my children's transitions were smooth and easy was because of how great the Del Obispo community is. The community is amazing. Students and parents who had been a part of the school for years welcomed us and made us feel comfortable and a part of the community. Concerning the already congested traffic on school mornings, no more vehicles are needed in the mornings in that area. It is already busy enough with cars dropping off children and parents having to find other places to park just so they could walk their children to school. Concerning the extra rooms, it is wonderful to be a part of the school that has a room available where a group of students could go with another teacher or parent volunteer to work on schoolwork and review important common core skills. It was very refreshing to volunteer at a school where there was extra space for small groups to go and meet to work together. By altering the future of Del Obispo, an important piece of history is being altered--and not in a logical, supportive way. If changes need to be made due to budgeting and finances, please find another way because Del OBispo needs to stay the same. The school and supporting community of students and parents have been doing amazing things for 41 years already.

I would prefer you keep del Orbison school as I have 2 children that go there and we live across the street. We have a nanny that doesn't drive l, so attending another school outside our neighborhood would not be an option.

Parking has always been a problem for parents as far back as I remember even when my childern were in school , Let expand parking and help out these poor parents who are just wanting to get their childern and education.

Hello I am currently a 7th grader at Marco Forster Midde School right next door to Del Obispo. When have you ever seen all the 4th graders at a school spend a night and day at the Pilgrim for free because someone donated money for them? I know a place. Del Obispo Elementary School. I attended Del Obispo for 5 years. From 1st to 5th grade. At Del Obispo, teachers make learning fun and kids actually want to go to school. Just because Del Obispo has a large campus and a small amount of kids, that does not mean another rapidly growing school should take over. Del Obispo is a fantastic school that is really strong in academics. I would hate to see the school go. Of the 40 years that the school has been around, my family has had 12 members to attend. There is a reason. THE DRAGON COMMUNITY WILL NEVER STOP GROWING AND WILL ALAWAYS BE TOGETHER. Keep the Dragon community together!

I was one of the original students at Del Obispo and all 3 of my children have attended there, Marco and Dana Hills as I did. Closing Del Obispo would be an extremely poor choice on CUSD decisions. Negatively affecting the surrounding neighborhoods and families. Keep our community a SMALL Family rooted community. Don't make the change!!

Save Del Obispo Elementary School! My niece and nephew attend Del Obispo Elementary. Just by reading the details of this petition, it is evident that they are provided with many great opportunities, as are the other children that attend there. It would be a shame for these children and their families to loose such great opportunities and a high quality school. CUSD needs to find another opportunity other than trying to shut down this elementary school. I am hopeful that this petition will receive the goal of 1,000 signatures, if we continue to pass it on.
