Our DSA teachers need our support! We didn't get to be the #1 High School in the state without the exceptional work of our DSA teachers. Let's support them now!

We need a firm foundation to build on. This is not a firm foundation it is, unjust, demoralizing, segregating, amotivating, mean spirited and just plain bad news for all stakeholder.

This system is counter-productive, bad for teachers, bad for students, and bad for our communities. We value all our teachers, who are working hard under adverse funding conditions, and believe that these changes will make Durham and North Carolina a less attractive place for people to live, work, and play.

I had the pleasure today of listening to a gentleman who spoke at the Wake County School Board press conference this afternoon, as Wake County announced that they were joining forces with many other school districts to denounce the attack on public schools and teachers. He said that PARENTS need to have a strong voice in this.....I am a parent, as well as a teacher and I am ready to stand up to this nonsense with other parents! We need to organize and make our voices heard. Will you stand with me and help me to reach other parents? We have to show that we care and have a backbone too! Let's organize....contact me!

What a total waste of talent - and time. Our good teachers are going to walk (or run) to systems - and states - that support them as professionals. What does that leave NC? Imagine the magnitude of having to fill all those positions, of the stupid paperwork that results from contract renewal and re-hires, and it's the kids who get the shaft ultimately. Not good for the students, not good for NC. What the heck, then, is the point of this system?!

If I was a public school teacher, I would decline to sign.

The teachers at DSA have a great way of motivating children. They understand that watching children grow over the course of the year is important. They work with children where they are and move them forward. Product oriented education doesn't create better people, learners or results. Education is a process oriented activity that allows students to learn at their own rates, not at some arbitrary limit set up by people who don't actually know the children they are regulating.
