As a parent of a Danbury high school freshmen, my daughter is part of the girls track team. She has aspirations to become an Olympian and pursue her track career in college. Fixing the Danbury high school track will not only help her but other athletes that want to pursue the same dreams. This track can be a beacon of hope and training for so many athletes at this school.

I have several siblings who went through DHS and who have done Track as well as me, and we all agree the track is worn out and time for an upgrade. I am sure the current track team can agree!

My name is Gail Williams and am the cofounder of the Danbury FLYERS tte Middle School track and field team. We use the the DHS track and field each spring and summer and are very concerned about the condition of the track. This needs to be a priority because just practicing is dangerous for my athletes. In addition, it adversely effects our ability to host home meets and may get us eliminated out of our league due to our inability to host a league meet. Also, we are missing out on revenue because the AAU and USATF would like us to potentially host Jr Olympics Regional and National Qualifying meets. This could potentially equate to 4k -20k in lost revenue per event.. Our Danbury FLYERS program boasts 80-100 middle school athletes per track spring and summer seasons and serves as a truly effective feeder program to the incredibly successful DHS boys and girls track and field teams.

The Danbury High School Track & Field and Cross Country teams are the most successful athletic programs in the history of the city, and two of the most respected programs in the entire country. It is beyond shameful that its outdoor track has been neglected a renovation budget while neighboring towns receive entire fieldhouses.

It's embarrassing that a city with such a renowned school and sport's program cannot put the safety of it's children, students and citizens first. Such pride comes from our elite sports' programs from our governmental leaders and yet nothing has been done. FIX OUR TRACK!

As a member of the track team ,going into my final season not being able to have any home meets is disheartening. Me and my teammates have worked very hard leading up to our senior year and would have loved to have our senior night on our home track.

If you want the community to support this high school and have their children attend (and not choose other schooling options), there needs to be upgrades to the school to make it safe, look good, and make kids (and families) want to be there. We have the largest high school and an amazing track team - let's get on board with making the actual school great! This is ridiculous already.
