It is an embarrassment for one of the most successful track programs in the state to not be able to have home meets. The government officials responsible for funding a replacement track, have known about the track's condition for years and have ignored it. The ignoring time is over, as the track is now unsafe to use and the funding needs to be put in place for the track to be replaced by next spring's track season. Having a functioning track is not some optional status symbol, it is a requirement for a functioning high school. DHS track & field/cross country alumni

It’s time for the town to step up and support student athletes of the Danbury Community not use their accomplishments to flaunt successes they do not support the grow in.

The high school track is too valuable a resource for the school and the community to lose. Invest in our kids.

I fully support this. As a school counselor at WSMSA, my past students are involved with track! I would love for the largest high school in CT to host track meets! Danbury High deserves this, our students deserve this! I love cheering on my past students and would love to do it in our hometown and community!

Truely a disappointment that Danbury, the larges HS in CT with a history of success in Track & Field as well as Cross Country has to resort to a petition in order to gain traction from our City leaders. Act Now!

As an avid track and field fan, Youth coach and parent, I am in total support of a full renovation/replacement of the DHS track. It is an invaluable asset which we need to preserve both from a revenue generating and from a health and wellness perspective for our community. I hope to whoever the relevant powers may be, this will be placed on the forefront of priorities for the immediate future. With several scholarship recipients to top universities DHS Track and Field program deserves much better than this! I have great hope and quiet confidence in the authorities that this will be accomplished and our town of Danbury and surrounding communities will be able to continue enjoying the benefits of this important resource.

If it’s as bad as people as saying, it should be replaced. DHS has so many student athletes that use the track, their safety should be a priority. In addition, so many community members use the track, we need to make sure everyone stays safe.
It’s sooo over due!!!! Fix it!
