The board has officially backed down and committed to upholding the rental cap in our neighborhood. I am incredibly relieved that our community will remain the stable place we all call home. We must stay alert to ensure these rules are respected moving forward.

The first amendment to the Clublands of Joliet Homeowner’s Association governing documents limits rentals in the community to 3% (27 total) of the number of homes in the community. The amendment also allows the board of directors to approve rentals beyond this number at their discretion. On Tuesday, August 21, the board of directors announced their intent to approve rentals beyond this number with no limit. The intention was indicated by a preliminary vote of 2-1 with Sean Cochran and Michael Bala voting in favor of the proposition and Kathy Cosentino opposing.

We, the undersigned, are concerned homeowners who urge our association’s board of directors to continue the current policy of not allowing any new rentals until the number can be shown to be below 27 and to not approve any rentals beyond that number.

The board has been quiet since the preliminary vote but the frustration across our neighborhood is growing louder every day. Seeing so many of you join this effort confirms that protecting our property values is a priority for everyone living here.

Seeing this level of support for our neighborhood really hits home because I know how hard my neighbors have worked to keep this place our own. This momentum proves that we all care deeply about the future of the Clublands and our community standards. I am prepared to bring these concerns directly to the board because we deserve to have our voices taken seriously.

Unbelievable. The rules were there for a reason. Leave the 3% limit alone.

Keep the rental cap in place. We moved here because of the neighborhood feel and rentals change the whole dynamic of the block.

Do not approve of unlimited rentals. Follow rental restrictions as written, and reduce rental pool over time.

1612 Clublands Dr. This board needs to listen to the homeowners instead of doing whatever they want. Stop the rentals now.

Dont change the rules. Our property values are already struggling and this will only make it worse.

We have specific by bylaws regarding rental in the convent which requires a vote of ALL homeowners to change. There is a reason for that and housing prices have reached the point where banks have no excuse not to sell their foreclosed properties! There is a reason I purchased a home in an association! If someone wants rental properties let them do it somewhere else!
