Clinton Golden Bears Football

President, Board of Directors and Faculty,

We(The young men attending Clinton College) are interested in starting a tackle football team here at Clinton College. 60 percent of the young men residing in Marshall Residence Hall have played high school football. Clinton currently has a few students playing for the College of Faith, a sports program for students who attend schools that don't have their respective sports. With that said, we thought it would be a great idea for Clinton to inherit a football team.

The football program will increase the number of undergraduates at Clinton College for the future. There are high school football players around the country that would love to come to a junior college that has dorms and a football program. Once THE undergraduate count rises, the amount of money the school gets will increase as well because more people are paying for tuition. Hopefully the increase of students will lead to more activities and clubs around campus.

Recruiting: Myself and other students can recruit players in different areas
Club Team- play against independent schools (ie College of Faith, Limestone, Clark Atlanta, Georgia Military, Orangeburg Calhoun Prep)
Roster- We are aiming for a team of 35 football players. All players must take summer courses to be eligible to play in the fall.
Workouts will start in July. 2 weeks of strength and conditioning followed by full equipment practices.
Practices will be held in the park behind the campus
No players will be on scholarship. All players will be paying tuition.
Coaches won't get paid
All games will be away games. We will try to have a homecoming game at District Stadium to raise money for the school.
If the football team changes Clinton College, we will enter the NJCAA the following season.

What do we need to make this successful?

First, we are demanding access to the weight room shack. Our athletes need to grow and develop and the weight room is needed badly. In the summer, our football players will use the weight room every day for two hours per day.
Our team will also need the school to invest in some helmets and uniforms for the first year. Depending on the price, we may ask for shoulder pads for 35 players or players have the fortune of purchasing their own shoulder pads. Attached with this proposal is a quote for helmets, uniforms.
We are asking for a lot of promotion around the city of Rock Hill. We know that Rock Hill would love to see a college football team in their city. Clinton will have a stronger following because it will be the only NJCAA school in South Carolina with a football team. We are asking for banners around campus, city and an updated website.

To make this clear, we only need funding for helmets, uniforms and traveling expenses. Myself and staff can handle scheduling of games, roster, traveling etc. Clinton is teaching us to become inspirational men and creating a mark in the world. We are trying to create a mark at our home first! The voice has spoken, hear our cry!
