End inclement weather "Optional Work Days" for CHCCS teachers

Please prioritize the safety of our teachers and change this policy.

One big step toward treating teachers like the professionals they are!

If days are made up, then no need for teachers to work. And the notion that teachers must be on site to work is antiquated. Please change the policy.

Please change this policy, or if the teachers are at school, have our children come as well.

We need to take care of our teachers, and appreciate them in so many ways

As a teacher for a school in a differing county I hope we can change this ridiculous policy statewide.

Please allow teachers to not have to make up a snow day

To be sure central office employees aren’t required to do the same. This is a ridiculous procedure that needs to be amended.

I taught in the CHCCS system for 11 years. There were many reasons for leaving they system, but one was this kind of time-clock punching mentality. Teachers are not treated like the professionals they are and trusted to do the job they are given. Every teacher I know puts in untold unpaid hours outside of the workday, yet when it comes to a day optional work day they are not trusted to work unless they are actually in the building. It is demeaning and unfair on so many levels. This must be changed.

This policy would be a great advance in keeping our lives safe and continue to improve our working conditions.
