End inclement weather "Optional Work Days" for CHCCS teachers

This policy does not make sense.

Please allow teachers to work from home on snow days, they shouldn't be taking a risk driving in such conditions.

Please change this policy to allow teachers to work from home when there is a snow day

If roads are not safe for students then teachers should be allowed to work from home without penalty.

This lack of support for working parents is shameful. In a school system!

Thank you for starting this. I live in Elon. That’s a long drive when I can safely do that same work from home. Also why don’t snow bank hours roll over from year to year?

I honestly can't believe this is a policy. Teachers can most definitely do work and planning from home, and incentivizing them to bear poor weather conditions is a reprehensible policy.

Ridiculous - time for a change!

Our teachers should not have to risk their safety to get to work when they will be making up the day later in the school year anyway. Lord knows they will still do any work that needs to be done at home, just as they do throughout the rest of the school year—grading papers and lesson-planning at home, with no extra pay.

I once had a major traffic accident involving black ice while attempting to make it to work on an Optional Day, in order to avoid losing pay. This cause is important to me. I work countless hours at home. Let’s give teachers a tiny taste of the respect corporate America has.

I had no clue that this is the CHCCS policy. Seems like it’s time for a change.

It doesn’t seem right to expect teachers to get to school if it is deemed unsafe for children to get to school.
