End inclement weather "Optional Work Days" for CHCCS teachers

Thanks for making me aware of this. Seems that NC is far down the list of teachers that are paid fairly. People who take advantage of the policy, no matter what it is will be the ones who do the same with any policy. They are the ones who should be punished and not those who serve us so well.

Our district can and MUST do better for our teachers and staff...

This is not fair for teachers. Society needs to take better care of their teachers of they want their teachers to take good care of their children. It's just logic.

I support our teachers, which means caring for their safety during extreme weather conditions. Teachers already give so much more of their time and emotional labor than they are compensated for. They should, at minimum, be treated like any other professional. This policy needs to change.

This is an outdated policy. It puts teachers and caregivers for those in their charge at risk to leave their homes on adverse weather days. There is no reason in 2018 teachers can’t work from home. I suggest you ask teachers how many hours they already put in at home. Our teachers are professionals.

In this day and age with all of the technology available, I can see no reason why teachers are not granted the professional courtesy to work from home on a snow day.

Please show our teachers that we value them, their time and most importantly their safety!

Please rethink this decision to make today an optional workday for teachers. It is clearly unsafe to be driving in these conditions.

No one in business would put up with this type of punitive work agreement. Too bad professionals with graduate degrees are treated so poorly.

Please change this policy. It is unfair to a group of employees that have plenty of work they can (and often do) at home.

This really needs to be changed. Such a dumb policy currently.

This is an outrageous policy. Teachers “work for home” all the time. They should not be forced into these impossible quandaries when the system declares a snow day.

This puts me as a parent and a teacher and a very difficult situation every time we have weather! Especially because I do not live in the district

We are as important as the children.

Incredibly unfair policy.

Need to take care of our wonderful CHCCS teachers in every way we can!

Change this illogical policy.
