As a responding member to that incident, I am thankful that Lieutenant Spallina took the health and safety of his crew and their families seriously. He should be commended for his brave decision to ignore a potentially life threatening directive. I salute him!

We stand on tradition, enforce uniform codes, then trample the men and women who serve this city, reminiscent of our Vietnam vet's returning in the seventies. Shame on us for forgetting our brotherhood and cause in a sea of IR's that drown's morale and chokes the just for championing the safety of our own.
