The Admin's decision to appeal the arbitrator's decision re: Lt. Spallina shows EXACTLY why Unions are essential. The Admin's choice to continue to try and make an example out of a member with nearly 30 yrs of NO PRIOR DISCIPLINE, meanwhile doing NOTHING regarding members who are known viruses, incompetents, and cowards is disgusting. I am proud to see that members who chose to sign their names come from every race, creed, gender and role! Despite our differences, it seems as though we are all in agreement on this issue, which should serve as a statement, in and of itself! Lt. Spallina is a great example of true concern and courage for his brethren and should be applauded for his actions, but instead was PUNISHED! Shameful. This could and should have been dealt with in a much better manner. WE didn't need to get to this point. Yours in Solidarity.

I do belive that the lieutenant was acting in the best interest of his members and was not trying to do anything but protect his team. Further information should have been provided at the time of the incident to insure the safety of his team was assured. I believe this could have been handled in a completely different manner if the concerns of the lieutenant were taken into consideration. I would hope that all of our officers put the safety of their members first when making the decisions we are expected to make when assuring that everyone goes home.
