DCPS Elementary School dad living in Brightwood. I saw the cupoula every morning or evening on my commute along Tuckerman. While a couple of blocks away now, I would love for a walkable school for my kids especially one that has been renovated and re-invigorated. We have seen what a modernized school can do in attracting families near and far by revealing something in plain site. That and a staff happier and more excited to be in an updated space that will hopefully translate into improving academics.

Went there for 9th-12th. Unfortunately, I never got to graduate from Coolidge, but, what I learned from the greatsest teachers in the world will be with e for the rest of my life. I love this school. The city NEEDS more learning establishments alike Coolidge.

I am a proud Coolidge alumnus, but it may be more important that my work is related to historical preservation. This community's history cannot be replaced. Keep the building and its historic footprint while modernizing it to fit the current and future needs of the people living around it. I for one am opposed to the destruction of our alma mater as short sighted. Please move forward with its improvement instead. Maximize its value.

As a proud graduate of Calvin Coolidge, I oppose any plan to close our school. I received an excellent education which prepared me for college and beyond

The Assembly of Petworth , a community empowerment organization that resided in Ward ,and our many partners in the health and academic fields strongly support the modernization project for Coolidge Senior High School...Please move forward with the Coolidge 's modernization project.

As a former student of Coolidge High School I want to vehemently urge the "Powers-To-Be" to reconsider such a proposed travesty of "Closing The Doors of Calvin Coolidge HS. And to move forward with the modernization instead.

The best memories of my life were made at Calvin Coolidge High School. My favorite teacher was Marsha Ghantt. She was a fledgling actrist & a white woman who taught us to journal and to love being Black. So many friends , who now live only in my memory, I met at Coolidge. Graduation from this school was the equivalent of a college degree. I have a BA. It was easy to graduate Summa Cum Laude because of the foundation I received at Calvin Coolidge. Please allow this legacy to remain & restore it to the beautiful building it once was. I live in NC now, but every time I make the trek home, I stop by to see her..

Adequate and generous school funding and modernization is needed to make Coolidge a world-class school. I urge the Council to stop focusing on development such as soccer stadiums and start investing in it future generations. It is appalling that we have several internationally ranked institutions of higher learning in the Distinct, yet are school system is not ranked near the top for major metropolitan area.

It is absolutely disheartening to know that there is a possibility that our wonderful school is in jeapordy of closing. I'm hoping that all avenues will be considered prior to any final decision(s). C/O '91.

This institution is vital to insuring the future opportunity for students in the area to attend a public neighborhood school. The rich history notwithstanding, our children deserve the right to receive a quality education in the own neighborhoods. The opportunities for quality public education are and will continue to erode. Private schools operating under the guise of public charter schools is the beginning of voucher driven education system that will leave the neediest among us with schools ill equipped to meet their educational needs.

Do the MATH, all other schools in the district have modernized except Coolidge. Why is that? I think we should modernize Coolidge. Right now it's a wonderful community school that should continue to serve students in this community.
